Chennai Film Festival round up
The eight edition of Chennai International Film Festival witnessed the who’s who of Kollywood for its star studded inaugural ceremony recently. The nine day extravaganza, which is on till December 23, was declared open at the Woodlands Theatre in Chennai. Director Shankar, Balachander, Sundar C., Sarathkumar, Radikaa, Jeyaram, Vikram and Madhavan graced the occasion. Almost 125 films from 43 countries will be screened at the festival this year. Five films will be screened every day at Woodlands Theatre, Woodlands Symphony, South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce auditorium and INOX theatre.
For the first time, 12 Tamil films will be screened along with 14 other Indian films as part of the Indian panorama. The festival is jointly organized by Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation (ICAF), Film Federation of India and South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce. On Thursday, ace director Mani Ratnam attended the screening of Sophie Deraspe’s French film Vital Signs.
