Kannitheevu ponna is largely similar to Sundar C Babu’s earlier item numbers for Mysskin – painfully simple, earthy and hummable.

Aararo offers a relatively easy tune for the very-nasal Mysskin, who messes up the pronunciation (likewise in Bharathiyar’s Vedham pudhumai sei), but at least gets the melancholic tune right. Raqueeb Alam pens and sings the retro-style Hindi song, Kabhi jind – heartfelt tune, despite strained vocals. Where K really shines is in the theme pieces.

Chaos, A tale and Hope, are almost Ilayarajaishly impactful, while Box and Life have spartan feel, but offer splendid tunes!

Interesting, impressive debut by K!
