Amala Paul who made her debut in Tamil cinema through the film Veerasekaran continued to act in the film Sindhu Samaveli which created a controversy. She donned the role of a daughter-in-law who has illicit relationship with her father-in- law. Though she was condemned for acting in that role by various women organizations, this itself brought a great publicity by which she became very popular.

After this she did the female lead role in the film Myna which had Vikranth in the lead role. This film also turned out to be the most outstanding film of the year. After this she has been receiving loads and loads of offers. But she is careful in choosing the roles and is also avoiding controversial roles. Now she is currently acting in a film which has Vikram in the lead role. This film is directed by Vijay who directed the film Madrasapattinam. Now leading actors and directors are after her for her call sheet.

Now at this point of time, there is news that she has taken a decision. Amala had taken up to acting once she finished her high school. Now she has the desire to pursue her higher studies in college. Since she is getting continuous offers, she is not able to fulfill her wish. Now she has decided to join the college and continue her studies. She will be making official announcement regarding her temporary break in cinema. She will be acting if the films after completing her graduation.
