Mamta in Mathilukalkkappuram
For the first time in her career, actress-singer Mamta Mohandas is pairing up with megastar Mammootty!
This happens in the forthcoming Malayalam film Mathilukalkkappuram, a sequel to Adoor Gopalakrishnan’s classic Mathilukal. (Mamta had earlier acted in the Mammootty flicks Big B and Bus Conductor, but not as his heroine.)
In Mathilukalkkappuram, Mamta is essaying the character Narayani, immortalized by K.P.A.C. Lalitha in the original. Unlike K.P.A.C. Lalitha’s Narayani, whose voice is only heard from the other side of the jail wall, Mamta’s Narayani will make her onscreen presence in Mathilukalkkappuram, written and directed by debutant Prasad.
The shooting of the film will commence in the first week of March in Thanjavur. Mammootty’s Play House are the producers.
