Ponnar Shankar is written by Chief Minister Kalaignar Karunanidhi and is based on the life history of two twin brothers Ponnar and Shankar of the Kongu Nadu region. Prashanth played dual role of twin brothers while Divya Parameswaran and Pooja Chopra shared the screen space with him. The audio launch was graced by the entire cast and crew of the film including actress Sneha who plays Prashanth's sister, Khushboo, Napoleon, Prakash Raj, Jayaram, Vadivelu, Seetha, Bhanu, Riyaz Khan and others.

The audio was launched by Kalaignar and the first copy was received by Pollahi N Mahalingam. The trailer of the film too was launched for the press and media after the event.

Prashanth's father Thyagarajan also the producer of the film thanked Kalaignar for gracing the audio launch in spite of being busy with election campaigns.

Ponnar Shankar is getting ready for an April release.
