Director RK Selvamani is back with the film Akila after a long break. Akila is going to on the backdrop of international terrorism and the shooting has been started in Chennai.

The next schedule of the shooting is going to take place at Uttranchal, Jharkhand and West Bengal. RK Selvamani is very famous for making films on political flavor and most of his films have undergone controversial knots. Anandan and Hudhasa are going to make their debut with this film. Akila is a gripping thriller and would be narrated in a racy approach. The film is inspired by a real life incident and when quizzed about this the director refused to disclose the details. The film doesn't carry any songs.
