Kandaen is a romantic and comedy entertainer directed by A.C. Mugil (who earlier worked with Prabhu Deva in Pokkiri and Engeyum Kaadhal). The film features Shanthnoo Bhagyaraj and debutant Rashmi Gautam in lead along with Santhanam in a pivotal role. Shanthanoo feels that the film will give him the much needed break as his character in the film is well designed. Kandaen cleared the censors with clean U certificate from the Censor Board. He major highlight of the film is comedy track between Shanthanoo and Santhanam. Surprisingly, this is for the first time comedian Santhanam is having an on screen pair, debutant Nimmi.

Vijay Ebenezer, an associate of Harris Jayaraj, has composed its music. Few songs turned out tp be chartbusters for a period of time.
