In fact the actress dreamt of cementing her place in Kollywood with Avan Ivan but unfortunately her role doesn't have much footage when compared to the other female lead Janani Iyer. Among all the lead actors Vishal's performance is walking away with all the laurels and everyone who saw the film opined that he will be awarded with National Award for Best Actor category of 2011. Generally, Bala's films have great scope for performance and especially female leads have ample scope but he didn't give space for Shalini and Janani in Avan Ivan.

Most discouraging factor for Madhu Shalini is the film took mixed response as the script is not much worked upon and film buffs in the industry are feeling that this is worthless film. In spite of being a Telugu girl the actress is unable to settle in Tollywood and so she hoped to strengthen her place in Kollywood and also expected her first break through Avan Ivan but sadly, it didn't work out!
