Malayalam actress Nithya Menon had acted in Tamil films Veppam and 180. She while speaking to the media said, "I started my career as a child artist and studied journalism because I wanted to become a journalist.

Then I wanted to become a director. So when I applied for the cinematographer course in the Poona Film Institute, I met Telugu director Nandhini Reddy. She told me not to study and asked me to become a heroine. Then I became an actress through a Kannada film. Later on I became a heroine through a Malayalam film. There is no point in calling me a Malayalam actress because I am acting in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada films. Some are telling that I resemble Soundarya while others say that I resemble Genelia. I don’t want to be compared with others. I want to be myself.

Many are asking that why I have refused to pair with Venkatesh in a Telugu film. There is a vast difference in our ages. The audience will not accept us. That is why I refused. After 180 I was supposed to pair with Siddarth in a Telugu film titled O My Friend. Many are asking that why I have been removed from this at the last moment. Everybody knows the reason. Shruthi Haasan wanted to pair with Siddarth and that is why I was removed."
