Known for playing roles close to reality, the name of the character Vimal doing in ‘Vaagai Sooda Vaa’, a period film set in the 1960s, is Veluthambi. “You will get to see Vimal as an aspiring teacher with a modern outlook,” director Sargunam says.
The filmmaker, who had earlier joined hands with the actor in his maiden venture ‘Kalavani’ says, “The story of ‘Vaagai Sooda Vaa’ is in my mind for the past eight years. Friends like Vimal encouraged me to make it a movie.”
Saying that the film would convey a controversial message, Sargunam says, “It’s a much needed message. But I am not ready to reveal it now. The suspense should be maintained at least till the film’s release.”
“Vaagai Sooda Vaa has love, sentiment and comedy in equal measure. Art director Seenu, a former associate to Sabu Cyril, erected a multicrore village set. Iniya, a new face from Kerala, is the heroine,” concludes the director.
