Following the grand success of ‘Ko’, actor Jiiva has joined hands with newcomer Gokul for the film ‘Rowthiram’ that marks the debut of technicians – Music Director Prakash Nikki and Cinematographer Shanmuga Sundaram. The album of ‘Rowthiram’ comprises of 5 tracks.
The audio launch of Jeeva starrer Rowthiram has took place at Hotel Green Park in Chennai a few days back was a classy and grand affair.
The audio launch was a glittering event and many Kollywood celebrities were seen having a gala time. Rowthiram album comprises of peppy, melody, dancing numbers composed by debutant Prakash Nikki. There are 5 numbers in this album, each representing a kind of its own. Let’s go for a musical journey and enjoy the music of Rowthiram ………
Maalai Mangum Neram-3/5
Singers: Ranina Reddy
Lyrics: Thamarai
This song impresses the listener during the first hear itself. Ranina's voice is truly seductive and recalls the songs like Ondrai Irandai in Kaakka Khakka and Vaseegara in Minnale. Prakash Nikki has tried something new by roping in Ranina in place of Bombay Jayashree or Andrea as these kind of songs are generally sung by them. A perfect song, with no errors to identify. Cherry-pick of the album- you would surely go for a rewind press….
Golimaare-2.5/5
Singers: Vallavan
Lyrics: Gokul
This song is shot in a local pub on Bollywood's most famous choreographer Ganesh Acharya who plays the role of a villain in the film. Vallavan has sung this funny kuthu number but strangely the song completely fails to engage the listeners. Since this is a situational song, it may do well with the visuals.
Adiye Un Kangal- 2.25/5
Singers: Udit Narayanan, Shriya Charan
Lyrics: Lalithachan
Udit Narayan and Sadhana Sargam vocals add much needed sweetness to this breezy melody. The song might have been shot in exotic locales in Switzerland with cool and classy choreography. It will go well with the audiences once the visuals are out. Prakash Nikki's tuning is completely refreshing but the lyrics are absurd. Though the song might not impress you immediately, give it a couple of hearings for the commendable composition.
Senganthal- 2.5/5
Singers: Haricharan
Lyrics: Lalithachand
This song sounds like Jeeva singing for his girl Shriya for having created a good wave of impact in his life. Once can expect this song during the first meeting of Jeeva and Shriya.
Haricharan's expressive singing is spirited. An admirable track with some amazing instrumentations, Prakash Nikki's music is done in a mild and cool way. It's gonna be touching greater peaks when visuals are added. Give a listen to it a couple of times and you are hooked.
Theme Music-2.25/5
Singers: Palakkad Sriram
Lyrics: Mahakavi Bharathiyar
The theme music is going to describe the hero’s rage against negative things happening in society. Palakkad Sriram who has sung several songs for A.R. Rahman including Slumdog Millionaire has rendered his vocals for this fast-paced number. Bharathiyar’s verses in between the phrases are pretty interesting. Can go for it once…..
Final Verdict:
Overall, the album is good and the songs will be topping the music charts very soon. Prakash Nikki tried out to give new and refreshing music and to an extent he succeeded. The album is surely appealing, but only within commercially acceptable factors. The album comprises of a melody, romantic, kuthu number and a duet, an album could not ask for more variety and Prakash Nikki has delivered at his best. With Rowthiram releasing soon, the songs must be playing non-stop on air.
On the whole, ‘Rowthiram’ has a mix of different genres of music and Prakash Nikki makes a promising debut.
