UTV's Muran is the first film to be shot extensively on the Bangalore-Chennai national highway. This is one of the busiest highways in South India and normally no shooting is permitted to avoid any traffic issues. However, when the producers of Muran approached with the script, the highway authorities were impressed with the idea and gave their permission to shoot the film there. The crew shot in different stretches of the highway and according to sources, the visuals are breathtaking. The film was shot for over 20 days at the beauty of the highway was captured effectively by cameraman Padmesh.

Rajjan Madhav, son of acclaimed Malayalam music composer Raveendran, is the director. Rajjan Madhav has earlier worked as co-director with Mysskin in Anjaathaey, Nandhalala and Yudham Sei. Rajjan's brother Sajjan Madhav has composed its music. Cheran and Prasanna play the lead roles in this big budget film which also features Jayaprakash, Haripriya, Nikhita and Prathap Pothan in prominent roles.

The film, which received a clean U certificate (without any cuts) from the Censor Board recently, is all set to grace theatres on September 30, 2011.
