Veteran South Indian actress Manorama, who underwent a surgery at the Apollo Hospitals in Chennai for a head injury she sustained when she fell in her bathroom, has regained consciousness.

According to hospital sources, the surgery went well and the actor, who had been on ventilator support since October 25 when she was admitted to the hospital is showing first signs of progress.

The doctors are hoping to wean her off life support on Wednesday, sources added.
