Debutant director Shankar Dayal is directing newly-married Karthi’s upcoming film Saguni which has Pranitha opposite him.  Readers might recall that Pranitha debuted as heroine in Kollywood in the film Udhayan opposite Arulnidhi a few months back.

Considering the fact that Udhayan wasn’t a rousing success, Pranitha should consider herself lucky to have landed up a film opposite a top star in Karthi in only her second venture in Tamil.

Dayal has denied reports which appeared in some sections of the press claiming that Anushka, a top actress in both Kollywood and Tollywood, has danced for an ‘item number’ in the film.  The film also has comedian Santhanam, who rocked early in the year with Karthi in the hit-film Siruthai.  G.V. Prakash Kumar has scored the music of the film.

Commenting about Anushka’s dance number in the film, Dayal says “It’s not true that Anushka has performed an ‘item number’ in the film.  In fact, we didn’t approach her to perform the dance number at all.  The film’s shooting has almost been completed, with a climax fight sequence and a song sequence remaining to be shot.  Santhanam plays a significant role in the film.

“The last schedule of the film’s shooting is to commence shortly.  We are planning to release the film in January,” concludes Dhayal.
