At the end of the day every Tamil actor worth his salt at the box-office wants to turn into an action hero.
The belief in the industry is that an action hero has longevity compared to a romantic or comedy hero.
There are also interesting case studies of heroes of 80's and 90′s who have faded out because they fell between two stools.
Now the latest guy to join the solo action hero brigade is Sasikumar. The posters of his Samuthirakani directed Poraali has him standing up and riding two horses, and another has him in a gladiator pose.
It is too early to know whether the scenes are part of the story or a dream sequence.
In Subramaniapuram and Nadodigal Sasikumar had got an angry young man image, a guy who goes against the system as he tries to help friends.
The buzz is that now good friend Samuthirakani has made Sasi an out and out action hero in Poraali. The film is Sasi's acid test as a solo action hero, and may establish him as an even more saleable star.
After watching the film, Sasikumar is said to have hugged Samuthirakani and told him- "You have taken me to the next stage in my travel as an actor."
If Sasikumar and his Poraali gets a good opening when it releases on December 1, the actor will have the last laugh.
