The 1983 hit film ‘Malaiyur Mambattiyan’ is been remade now as ‘Mambattiyan’ with Prashant reprising his father Thiagarajan’s ‘Robin Hood’ role in the new film.

“The film has really come out well. The original film was a super hit and this remake will also be a hit film, we hope. The super hit song ‘Kaattu Vazhi Pora…’ sung by Ilayaraja is been remixed for the new film and Silambarasan has sung the song,” spoke Thiagarajan in the audio launch of the film.

Young composer Thaman has scored music for the film. Along with Prashant, the film has Meera Jasmine, Prakash Raj, Vadivelu and Mumaith Khan in prominent roles. The film is likely to get released in December.
