The son of tribal leader Mambattiyan, on whose life Prashanth starrer ‘Mambattiyan’ is based, filed a case in a Chennai court last week, seeking a stay on the film.

And now, clearing the deck the film faced, Nallappan, who has filed the case, has withdrawn it. Speaking to reporters on Friday, Nallappan’s advocate Balu said a consensus on the issue has been arrived at with an out of court settlement, following which the plea has been withdrawn.

In his petition last week, Nallappan said his father had “fought for the rights of tribal people” in the Salem region. “I understood that the filmmakers were trying to portray different fictitious versions of my father’s life. I am apprehensive that the projected image would distort the facts”, he said.

Produced and directed by Prashanth’s father Thyagarajan, the film has Meera Jasmine, Vadivelu and Mumaith Khan in lead roles. The movie, which happens to be a remake of a Thyagarajan starrer of the 1980s, hit the screens on Friday.
