2011's blockbuster, Ajith's Mankatha directed by Venkat Prabhu has been re-released in select towns in Tamil Nadu from January 3.

The failure of some recent big Tamil movies has forced the exhibitors to bring back Mankatha.
The theatre owners were looking for content till Pongal films Vijay's Nanban and UTV's Vettai releases.
Mankatha is proving to be a good "re-run gap padam" as they call it in the trade.

Says a prominent single screen theatre owner in Coimbatore : " Mankatha has been declared the number one hit of 2011 by the trade and the media. And since it has not been shown on TV there is a repeat audience for it."
