Anushka's first Tamil film, Rendu, was directed by Sundar C but this film did not do well at the box office.
Following this, Anushka began concentrating in Telugu films and did well there. With the Tamil and Telugu version of Arundathi turning out to be a grand success, Anushka began getting some plum offers in Kollywood as well.

She got to pair up with Suriya in Singham and has several other films in her kitty with top stars. The buzz now is that Sundar C had approached Anushka with a script, but the actress declined. Though the reasons for this said Anushka's tight call sheet, sources say that the actress is not keen on acting under Sundar C's direction following the Rendu debacle.
