Film Strike Again; No Film Shoot Today!

The Producers' Council has announced a one-day strike and there will not be any film shoot today in the Tamil film industry.

Triggering another stand-off with FEFSI the Producers' Council has announced another one-day strike cancelling all the film shoots scheduled today. With this there is a fear in the industry of another longstanding tug-of-war between the two already tussling factions.

The latest clash was sparked off with FEFSI workers' non-cooperation in the shoot of the film 'Alex Pandian' stalling the shoot indefinitely. The workers did this in protest against the producer, K E Gnanavelraja of Studiogreen, of the film who had recently entangled with director Ameer in the issue of releasing the film 'Paruthiveeran' in Telugu. They abstained from the film shoot in support of Ameer, who has been supporting the cause of FEFSI in the salary issue.

With Prouducer Council's recent move the FEFSI is angered and they have also announced an indefinite fasting against the Council's attitude. One of the key members in the union said, "Already the film industry was crippled by the earlier strike and now because of some wicked producers who is not actively involved in production now another stand-off is triggered that is going to affect both film producers and the workers. Only a Government intervention can solve this issue."
