Actress and acclaimed danseuse Shobana is celebrating her birthday today! She is turning 46 years old.

  Shobana was born and brought up in Kerala. She is the niece of famous dancer actresses Lalitha, Padmini and Ragini and Sukumari is her paternal aunt. Actor Vineeth is also related to her. 
  
She debuted in films in 1984 with a Malayalam film 'Kanamarayathu' pairing opposite Mammootty. She was one of the top heroines in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada films. She has acted with almost all top south Indian heroes, including Rajinikanth and Kamal Hassan, in all the south Indian languages.
 
 She won National Film Award for Best Actress twice for her brilliant performance in 'Manichitrathazh' and 'Mitr, My Friend'. She won many other film awards from state Governments.
 
Shobana is also a professional Bharathanatyam dancer who has done performances around the world.
She was awarded the Padma Shri from the Government of Indian for her contributions towards arts.
Shobana is currently acting in Rajinikanth's upcoming film 'Kochadaiyaan' in a vital role.
