During the audio launch of the film 'Azhagarsamiyin Kudhirai' Ilayaraja took stage and while speaking about predicted that the film would definitely get a National award and Appukutty's natural acting would also be highly appreciated.

As predicted by the 'Maestro' the film 'Azhagarsamiyin Kudhirai' and Appukutty are now been awarded with National awards. The film bagged the Best Wholesome Entertainment Film award and actor Appukutty's acting was honoured with the Best Supporting Actor award.

Though the film did not do well at the box-office it received rave reviews both from audience and critics. Suseendran has directed the movie and 'Isaignani' has scored the music for the film.
