The Madras High Court in its recent hearing stayed the proceedings in a case that was filed against director Bala.

A defamation case was filed in the Ambasamudram court by one S Muthuraman as Bala had a character of a Zamin depicted in an undignified manner and the petitioner had prayed damages for the same. But, with Bala's petition in the Madras High Court, the Judges has stayed the proceedings and also dismissed the petition that asked for Bala's personal appearance in the case at the court of Ambasamudram.

This has given a breather for Bala who had been troubled with the case that spoiled his film schedules.
In his reply to the petition Bala had stated that the portrayal of the Zamin was purely his imagination and he never intended to hurt anybody with his character that was portrayed by actor-director G M Kumar.

Bala is currently filming his 'Eriyum Thanal' with Atharva, Pooja and Vedhika in the lead.
