Happy Birthday to Chiyaan Vikram

One of the top stars of Kollywood Vikram is celebrating his birthday today. He is one of the finest actors in the country, who is at ease doing class as well as commercial mass masala movies.


The star is at the moment in London shooting for UTV's AL Vijay directedThaandavam. It is a big budget action entertainer where Vikram plays a very stylish role in the company of Anushka and Amy Jackson.

Vikram is also doing the off-beat Bollywood film David with director Bejoy Nambiar. The film is said to be something different.

Remember Vikram is one actor who is verycareful with what he choses to do on screen.

Actor Vikram is turning 46 years old as he is celebrating his birthday today.

The actor was born as Vikram Kennedy in Chennai to a Christian father and Hindu mother. The actor is fondly called as Kenny and Chiyaan by his friends and fans.

He finished his schooling in Yercaud Montfort School and graduation in English Literature from Loyola College, Chennai.

While doing his college education Vikram took up modeling and did many commercials for popular brands. He was introduced to films with veteran filmmaker Sridhar's 'En Kaadhal Kanmani' in 1990.

Vikram's acting career came to a halt with many of his early movies failed to click at the box-office in spite of his good performances and well written scripts.

It was director Bala's debut film, critically acclaimed 'Sethu', a 1999 release that saw Vikram as a mentally retarded person, that brought the second life in Vikram's career and after this there was no looking back as he continued to dominate the Kollywood scene with a string of hits including Shankar's 'Anniyan', Bala's 'Pithamagan' and Mani Ratnam's 'Raavanan'.

Vikram won many accolades and awards internationally including Filmfare, State Government awards and the National Award for Best Actor for his film 'Pithamagan'!

The actor is currently doing 'Karikalan', a historic-fantasy, and 'Thaandavam' with Anushka and directed by A L Vijay.
