For Shruti Haasan, music is more important than acting. She says though she is acting in films, music is her main interest and she is doing a balancing act.


Talking to journalists, she said she has received accolades for her performance in the film ’3′ directed by Aiswarya Dhanush. The film was released on March 30. It was quite an experience for her to act with Dhanush. The number ‘Kannazhaga’.which she sang and ‘Why this Kolaveri Di?’ sung by Dhanush are both huge hits, she pointed out.

Speaking about the freedom to express talent, she says, “I write the songs and sing them myself. I have freedom here unlike in films where there are limits beyond which one cannot go.” If she has to choose between music and film, she should manage her time in such a way that she can pursue both.

Shruti said both his father Kamal Haasan and mother Sarika complimeted her on her performance in ’3′. “I sought his opinion as an actor and he said he liked it. In fact, he enjoyed it,” she said and added, “He did not say it just because I am his daughter. He has never had that bias. My dad has always been very frank while giving feedback and as a result, helped me grow. He never advises, only gives suggestions”.
