Director Roopa Iyer is all praise for actress Shriya Saran, who plays the lead role in the Tamil-Telugu bilingual Chandra, which is currently underway. Shriya essays the role of a princess in the post-republic times.

“Shriya mesmerizes not only with her looks but also with her work ethics,” says Roopa Iyer who heaps compliments her heroine. She adds, “Shirya is full of energy uninterrupted, she is a cameraman’s delight. Be it dance, emotions or romance, she excels in all and I’m very proud to be associated with this versatile artiste.”

The film is being shot in Mysore and Bangalore and other picturesque locations in Karnataka. Another portion of the film will be shot in the United States, which is scheduled to take place soon. Director Roopa says this is her pet project as she has been researching on the subject of the last surviving royal families for a long time and Chandra is a result of that.

The rest of the cast includes Prem, Suganya, Ganesh Venkatraman, Vivekh and Vijaya Kumar. The bilingual film marks debuts of both the heroes. While Ganesh will be making his debut in Kannada with this film, Prem will be testing waters in Kollywood with the Tamil version.
