Sangeeth Sivan badly wants to do Tamil film

Sangeeth Sivan is back in action. The Yodha director has begun the shoot for his next Bollywood outing, Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 in the UK with the Deols —Dharmendra, Sunny and Bobby.

“All the three actors will be reprising their characters from the first installment and it’s going to be a thorough laugh riot. This is the first time that I will be working with Dharam ji, and I am quite excited about it,” he says.

Interestingly, it was Samir Karnik, who handled the first part, who was supposed to direct the sequel as well. And then, it was reported that Sunny Deol would helm the project. Quiz Sangeeth about him replacing the two as director, and he says, “I have no idea what happened in the initial stages, but when I was approached with the script, I gave it much thought as I usually do the scripts myself. But then, I found the subject exciting and took it up. A majority of the portions of the film will be shot abroad.”

He adds, “I am also doing another comic entertainer with Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi. Currently, I’m scouting for an actor to play the third lead in it.”

But why has he restricted himself to light-hearted subjects in B-town? “I don’t want to do heavy-duty subjects there. I want to draw a clear line between the subjects that I handle in Malayalam and Hindi ventures. While my Malayalam films will be experimental, my B-Town ones will be commercial potboilers.”

Does he have any Tamil projects in the pipeline? “I want to badly do a Tamil film and a really good one at that! As of now, I’m also busy doing the scripting and production of the Malayalam film Idiots and based on its reception at the box office, I will mull over making a Tamil film,” he says.
