After 11-year hiatus from Tamil cinema, composers Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy are back with Kamal Haasan's magnum opus "Vishwaroopam". The trio says, their prolonged absence from the Tamil film industry was due to their commitments in Bollywood.
"It's just one of those things. I guess we've been very busy with our Hindi projects. Hence we haven't had any offers from the Tamil film industry," said Ehsaan Noorani. Kamal Haasan starred "Alavandhan" was their last Tamil movie in 2001, which was also released in Telugu and Hindi as "Abhay".
Throwing more focus on the music of this multi-lingual "Vishwaroopam" Ehsaan said, "Vishwaroopam scores had turned out well. The music is expected to be taken to global territories drawing upon different ethnic styles of music, and we did it within set expectations."
Shankar Mahadevan has even sung a song for the film along with other voices, including Kamal too. "The album is mixed and mastered well and should be released soon. We are as much excited as fans about the music launch," said Shankar.
Earlier Shankar-Ehassan-Loy was approached to tune for Kamal's Dasavatharam, but couldn't do it as busy. "We will love to do more Tamil projects provided they come to us. But for now, we're busy with 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' and two untitled films by Nikhil Advani, besides other projects," Shankar Mahadevan said.
Queried about working with Kamal Haasan for the second time, they said it was exhilarating. "His years of experience in the industry make him an excellent director. His guidance and knowledge of music make working with him a pleasure," said Shankar.
Finally he concluded saying, Kamal is one of the most innovative directors and, despite being a superstar, has a lot of humility.
