Sun TV acquires Paagan’s satellite rights

Srikanth starrer Paagan’s satellite rights was acquired by Sun TV. Paagan was directed by Aslam and released on last Friday.

Actor Srikanth appears a very happy man.  The actor, who starred in the Shankar-directed Nanban early this year along with Jiiva and Vijay, was keeping his fingers crossed last Friday on the eve of the theatrical release of his solo-hero project titled Paagan opposite Janani Iyer of Avan Ivan fame.  Initial reports say that the film has opened to a more-than-positive responses from the audiences across the State.

Srikanth, who has been in Kollywood for almost a decade now, was caught in many personal problems and professional hurdles in the past few years.  His ‘wrong choice’ of a few films had almost ended his career before he attempted redemption with Nanban which did an average business when released in January this year.  At least, it helped in putting Srikanth back in the reckoning and reminded people of his existence as an actor.

This comedy based movie received good response from the audience on first three days from the release date. Important theaters in Chennai were occupied by 90% of audience.

Directed by debutant director Aslam, who was earlier working under director Ameer as assistant director. The film is a humour-based one and had surprisingly had a great ‘opening’ with the first three days collecting as many as Rs.1.20 crores as ticket sales in Chennai city alone.  This is considered as some sort of an ‘achievement’ for a medium-budget film like Paagan.

The film has done well in its first week in theatres all over the State which has prompted Sun TV to go ahead and acquire the satellite broadcasting rights of the film at an ‘unspecified’ rate.  Srikanth is said to be in very high spirits for delivering his first solo hit in many years.
