Director Sarkunam is ecstatic. After winning the National Award for the Best Regional Film (Tamil) earlier this year, his Vaagai Sooda Vaa has now been selected to be screened in the Indian Panorama segment at the Indian International Film Festival.
The jury, which included Tamil director Suresh Krissna, selected 20 films from 144 entries, with Vaagai Sooda Vaa being the only Tamil film in the list.
Says Sarkunam, "This is the second national recognition that I have got for the film and I feel very happy about it as the film is close to my heart. It's an acknowledgement that my film belongs among the best films to have been made in India last year."
Talking about what the honour means, he says, "Since they will be screening it at the IFFI, the film is bound to come to the notice of organizers of other international film fests and will give it an opportunity to be screened at various parts of the world."
