Venkat Prabhu, during a TV show, was asked if he would ever remake Karakattakaran. The Biriyani director said that the film is a masterpiece and it would be extremely difficult to do justice to the original. But Venkat didn't hesitate to reveal his imaginary cast for the film.

In place of Goundamani and Senthil, he said he would prefer Santhanam and Premji respectively, as Santa is good at bossy roles and Premji at getting whacked. However, he was quick to add that he will not remake the film and that the cast was just his personal opinion.
