Paiyaa is a film which had Karthi and Thamanna in the lead roles. This film was directed by Lingusamy. Currently this film is being remade in Telugu and Hindi.
Producers Naveen and Prem have acquired the Kannada remake rights.

They have paid Rs 15 Lakhs to acquire the remake rights of Paiyaa. It is understood that this is the first time such a big amount is being paid to acquire the rights of a film. Mahesh Babu is directing this film.

He while speaking about this said," We have made some changes to suit our language. In the original version, the story will journey from Chennai to Bangalore. In the remake version, the story will journey from Bangalore to Mumbai. Out of five songs composed by Yuvan, we have utilized the tunes of three songs. We had included two new songs. It has not been decided about the cast and crew."
