Powerstar Srinivasan troubles Vetri Maaran with 'Desiya Nedunjalai'

Director Vetri Maaran has come out strongly against the governing body of the film industry.
He declared that he had to compromise by renaming the originally titled Desiya Nedunjalai to Udhayam after realizing that the title had been registered by Powerstar Srinivasan.

Vetri Maaran avers that he had shot for a day under the title of Desiya Nedunjalai with Dhanush way back in 2006 and therefore the title rightfully belongs to him and in his own words claims Powerstar’s using of the title to be ‘no less than intellectual property theft’.

The first look of Udhayam was revealed earlier yesterday with Siddarth in the lead. The film uses Vetri Maaran’s services as the writer and creative producer while Manimaran will direct the film. The music will be by G.V. Prakash and the venture is produced by Dhayanidhi Alagiri under his new found banner Meeka Entertainment.

Interestingly Venkat Prabhu also revealed that he had initially coined NH4, and later Desiya Nedunjalai, for what would eventually turn out to be the fun filled road-trip thriller Saroja.
