Vishwaroopam Out! Sweet Pongal for Alex Pandian team

Sweet Pongal for Alex Pandian team
Alex Pandian is all set for release this Pongal. The movie produced by Studio Green and directed by Suraaj. Starring Karthi, Anushka and Santhanam in the lead, the movie will release in over 400 screens on 11 January.

Says Suraaj , 'Karthi plays a boy-next-door, without any care in the world. He is the kind of guy who would do anything for money. Karthi had to put in a lot of effort for this role. I’ve made him run on top of the train, hang from a tree and even roll from a mountain'.

'People know my films are replete with humour and everyone knows about Karthi’s comic sense. So, we wanted to highlight the action element in the film, and released our teasers with high-octane chase sequences.'

The makers of Vishwaroopam's decision to opt out of the Pongal release at the last minute is turning out to be a blessing for other releases this Pongal. With the Kamal Hassan's movie backing out, Karthi's Alex Pandian is heading for a massive release.

According to traders, the movie bosses have not wasted any time. The moment they sensed that Vishwaroopam could be out of the Pongal race, they increased the number of screens, which were primarily allotted to Vishwaroopam if Kamal Hassan sorted out his differences with theatres owners-distributors.

As of now, Alex Pandian is getting close to 500 screens alone in Tamil Nadu and in over 650 screens the film will see the light of day worldwide. And also, Samar's inconsistent release plans benefited Alex Pandian to large extent.

The Vishal and Trisha Krishnan starrer film, which was supposed to release on January 13, was reportedly pushed due to some financial issues but the movie bosses surprisingly worked out overtime to resolve the issues after Vishwaroopam left the Pongal race. Now, Samar will release as per the announced date in 200 screens.

Coming back to Alex Pandian, this is said to be the biggest-ever release for a Karthi film, as the film is releasing in close to 500 screens in Tamil Nadu alone.
