Today (March 4), Santhanam's first film as producer along with Ramanarayanan, Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya (KLTA) completes 50 days.

KLTA is 2013's first genuine super hit. Made on first copy basis by Santhanam for Rs 5.50 Cr is reported to have made Rs 12 Crore from Tamil Nadu theatricals alone.

The Manikandan directed comedy riot stars Santhanam, Powerstar Srinivasan, Sethu and Vishaka in the lead roles with music by Thaman. It worked big time at TN box-office mainly due to its crass comedy and coming together of Santhanam with Powerstar.

Powerstar Srinivasan became a major draw at the box-office with the success of KLTA. The film also had its share of controversies with Bhagyaraj suing the makers of the film for copyright infringement as he alleged that the film was a remake of his Indru Poi Naalai Vaa.

KLTA was a big hit as films that released along with it for Pongal bombed and family audiences lapped it up. It was also the smart marketing of Udhayanidhi Stalin that made KLTA a super hit.
