On Sunday (Aug 18) evening actor and film historian Mohan V Raman spoke eloquently on Superstar Rajinikanth as part of Chennai Heritage Talk, part of Madras Week celebrations.

The function was held at ITC Grand Chola, with man who discovered Rajinikanth, legendary director K Balachandar and director who made him mass hero SP Muthuraman, as chief guests.

Mohan Raman had done his homework well on the superstar as his two hour speech was full of anecdote, audio visuals and milestones of Superstar Rajinikanth's life and times. It was a treasure trove of information and little known facts about the actor.

Mohan Raman chose August 18 for a reason as it was on that date 38 years back Rajini's first movie Apoorva Ragangal hit the screens. Raman said that Rajinikanth watched the film at Krishnaveni theatre opposite T Nagar bus depot. After the first show Rajini was eager to find out if anybody will recognise him. It was a 10 year –old girl who first noticed him!

Everybody knows Rajinikanth’s commitment to perfection on screen. During the shoot of Bharathiraja's 16 Vayathinile for a particular scene he made actress Sridevi spit on his face to get that real impact !

Mohan Raman shared also some idiosyncrasies of the star. He made it very interesting with all kinds of tit bits and was as entertaining as a Rajinikanth mass masala.
