Nizhalgal Ravee in Bollywood movie

Nizhalgal Raviee
Nizhalgal Raviee, who has earlier appeared in Aadmi long ago, is playing Imran Khan’s father in Gori Tere Pyaar Mein. He will be seen in the role of a Tamilian in the film, which also stars Kareena Kapoor and is directed by Punit Malhotra.

“It’s a romantic entertainer, and has a generous dose of comedy. I play a strict father to a useless son in the film,” says Raviee. So, how did he land the role? “They were looking for someone to play a Tamil father and one of Karan Johar’s associates had seen a couple of my Tamil films and had mentioned my name to him,” he reveals.

With several instances of Bollywood stereotyping south Indians in the recent past, quiz Raviee if he was apprehensive to play a Tamilian in a Hindi film, and he quickly clarifies, “It’s a humour-based script, and there’s no stereotyping. In fact, we speak a lot of Hindi and only a few lines in Tamil. Imran and I play a normal Tamil family settled in Mumbai. So, there’s no scope for making fun.”
