The media has been abuzz that noted veteran director KS Ravikumar had serious differences with Soundarya Rajinikanth over the making of Kochadaiyaan, and he has been sidelined.

However Ravikumar hit back at an audio launch and said : " It is all fabricated that I'm unhappy with Kochadaiyaan and my name was not prominently displayed in the promos. I have the best of relationship with Rajinikanth sir . I was the supervisory director of the film and it has come out well and is now ready for release."

In Detail

Film-maker K.S. Ravikumar has scoffed at rumours in the media which appeared a couple of days back claiming that not ‘all is well’ between Ravikumar and the family of superstar Rajinikanth. He has also said that as such, the question of any difference of opinion with Rajini didn’t arise at all.

Reports claimed that though Ravikumar penned the story, screenplay and dialogues of Rajini’s animation 3-D venture Kochadaiiyaan and supervised debutant Soundarya’s direction, he was not credited appropriately in the title cards and instead, Madesh’s name appeared prominently. This made the press excited as some sections reported of a rift in Rajini and Ravikumar’s 2-decade long friendship.

Rajini has played triple roles in Kochadaiiyaan of that of a King and his two princes. Reacting to the press reports, Ravikumar spoke about it at the audio launch of the film Sankarapuram yesterday. “I came across news items in the press saying that I had been ‘neglected’ by Rajini and his family in the publicity campaign and title cards of Rajini’s Kochadaiiyaan. There isn’t even an iota of truth in them.

“One of my close friends, who also read the news item, called me over phone and asked what was cooking. At that time, I happened to be sitting with Rajini and soon after my friend’s call, I gave the cell-phone to Rajini. The moment Rajini’s magnetic voice said ‘hello’, my friend couldn’t ask anything further and simply enquired Rajini’s health and ended his call.

“I would like to make it very clear that all such rumours are nowhere close to reality. I have been treated rather well and appropriately by the entire Rajini household. The film is now complete in all respects and is ready to hit the screens worldwide on Rajini’s birthday on 12th December,” concluded Ravikumar.
