Jai recently met the press amidst a lot of speculation about his sidelining from Raja Rani yesterday at Chennai. The actor appeared to be very much happy with Raja Rani’s success and here are some excerpts from the interview…

Do you think that you are being sidelined in the promotions of Raja Rani?
No, because of continuous shoots I couldn’t attend the promotions and hence such a news. Now after the success of the film, I thought of meeting the press and I plan to continue this after every release of my film.

About the success of Raja Rani…
I was seriously thinking of doing a role like Karthik in Mouna Ragam and when Atlee narrated my character in Raja Rani, I did not think twice, I immediately grabbed the opportunity. I was also very cautious that I should not make any mistake like how I selected some bad projects after the success of Subramaniyapuram.

Who is your favourite heroine?
Nayanthara and Nazriya are my favourites. Among senior heroines, I like Nayanthara and in the present generation of actresses I like Nazriya’s performance a lot.

On your relationship with Nazriya…
Well, the chapter of love is yet to come in my life and as of now I’m not in love with anybody.

After Subramaniyapuram, you are pairing with Swathi for Vadacurry? Tell us about that…
It feels good to act with Swathi again. Though Subramaniyapuram was a hit film and our pair was a big hit, no one approached both of us for a film afterwards. But when Vadacurry director approached me with the idea, I was really happy.

On the title issues of Saraswathi Sabatham
Saraswathi Sabatham title is very apt for the film’s concept. But as many of Sivaji fans opposed it now we have changed the title to Naveena Saraswathi Sabatham. Saraswathi Sabatham will be a complete comedy entertainer.

About your relationship with Venkat Prabhu and the news that both of you parted ways…
 No, we are still friends and in fact I was supposed to do a role in Mankatha but the casting changed in the last moment. Initially I was supposed to play one of the four guys in Mankatha but later it didn’t materialize. When I asked for the SI character in the film, Venkat Prabhu made fun of me saying that it’s too much for me to act in a cop’s role.
