Tamil movie “Raja Rani” which was released on Sept 27, 2013, has earned a staggering Rs 32 crores in 10 days at the box-office.

The movie featuring Arya and Nayantara in the lead roles minted Rs 12 crores in its opening week end. “Rja Rani” was produced by AR Murugadoss in association with Fox Star Studios.

“Raja Rani” 10-day total earnings are : Tamil Nadu Rs 25 crores, Karnataka Rs 3.5 crores, Kerala Rs 3 crores, Rest of India Rs 50 lakhs. Total Rs 32 crores.

Vijay Singh, the CEO of Fox Star Studios credited the innovative marketing strategy of the movie for the success. “In marketing, we were keen to bring our learnings from Hollywood and Bollywood and apply them in the Tamil market.

Kudos to the Fox marketing team and Atlee for coming up with innovative ideas like the marriage invitation invite and the first-time ever roadblock of the trailer which created a buzz for the film beyond its star cast”.

When mainstream Hindi movies are literally struggling to earn the cost of the movie, this romantic Tamil movie is an ey opener for Bollywood movie producers.

Only time will tell if the Bollywood filmmakers will start making south Indian movies.
