Vijay’s next blockbuster Jilla will see its theatrical release during Pongal 2014,when it would clash with Ajith’s Veeram. The first look of Jilla is expected to be unveiled on Deepavali, November 2.

Jilla is produced under the banner Super Good Films, RB Chaudhary, father of actor Jiiva. Actor Jithan Ramesh on behalf of Super Good Movies confirmed the news on Twitter: “The 1st look of #jilla will b on diwali tht is 2nd of November and movie ll get release on pongal.”

Jilla is a thriller and a Madurai-based movie. The shooting of Jilla is expected to be wrapped up this December. The film crew is currently busy shooting for a song sequence in Japan. The crew has shot the film in different locales including Madurai, Chennai and Andhra Pradesh while the song sequences were canned abroad.
Directed by debutant RT Nesan, Jilla will apparently be an all-in-one commercial package. Besides Vijay, the film has Kajal Aggarwal as the female lead opposite Vijay; Mohanlal, Mahat Ragavendra, Niveda Thomas and yesteryear actress Poornima Bagyaraj are featured in key supporting roles.

Kajal has teamed up for the second time with Vijay post their smash hit “Thuppakki”. Vjay and Kajal Aggarwal are reportedly portrayed as police officers in Jilla. Mohanlal plays a Godfather in the Vijay-starrer.

Music for Jilla is scored by Imman of “Kumki” fame. Like in the past, Vijay has lent his voice for a song in this album. Vijay has partnered with popular award-winning singer Shreya Ghoshal to sing a melodious folk number, which has lyrics penned by Vairamuthu.

So, not only this festival of lights is ‘Thala Deepavali’ with the release of Ajith-starrer Arrambam but also ‘Thala Thalapathy Deepavali!’
