In the hundred years of cinema, the period around 1980s was crucial to the rise of many prominent stars.

There were some who managed to be path-breakers in these years, and The 80s Stars is an exclusive club in recognition of them. Developing the brainchild of Lissy Priyadarshan in 2009, actress Suhasini and Lissy have formed the club together, and they unite in a hassle-free ambience every year.

Lissy, Suhasini, Sripriya, Khushboo, Chiranjeevi and Amrish have already played hosts at these parties and this time it was the Complete Actor Mohanlal's turn to host the get together. Being the generous ans sport of a host that he is, the actor organized a Hawaiian theme party in his beach house in Injambakkam on Saturday. Invitations were sent out to all the leading faces of 1980s, and his house was thronged by 31 stars from across south Indian languages including Arjun, Radha, Poornima Baghyaraj, Khushboo, Radhika, Ramesh Aravind, Ambika, Ramya Krishnan, Suresh, Venkatesh, Amrish, Chiranjeevi. There was also an artiste who would paint all the actors to be gifted at the end of the party. According to Suhasini's account, it is a let-you-hair-down sort of party, where the actors do not have to feel conscious about maintaining their poise given their stature. So no doubt, there was music, dance, sumptuous food and a lot of fun.

Then came the surprise. Rajinikanth, who was also one of the stars who were invited, had earlier declined the offer considering his 'Kochadaiyaan' schedule. But he suddenly turned up at the party, to everyone's surprise and spent quality time with them all. Superstar enjoyed his best with his colleagues till the end of the party, having a nice time throwing a ball. But the mystery remains as to how he came there, who had escorted him, and how and when he returned!
