Finally director Bala has made his choice and it is Varalakshmi Sarathkumar for the pivotal heroine role for his forthcoming film with Sasikumar as hero.

Earlier there were rumours that Bala had picked Shriya Saran for this important character, where the role demands that the girl is a trained dancer. The buzz is that Amala Paul was also contacted to do this role.

The film is based on the art of Karagattam dance. Many heroines including Shriya were approached for the role but finally Bala chose Varalakshmi due to her south Indian looks and also being an trained dancer. It is a big break for Varu who will be making a comeback of sorts with the film.

Varu had auditioned for the film which has music by Ilayaraja and Bala thought she is apt for the heroine character in his film. Remember in all Bala films heroine has a very important role. Who can forget Laila of Nanda and Pitamagan, Pooja of Naan Kadavul or Vedika n Paradesi?
