Mysskin writes and sings for Kallapadam

Mysskin
Debutant director Vadivel says the song that his mentor, director Mysskin, has sung for his Kallapadam will be one of the highlights of the film.

He says, “Mysskin has written the lyrics for the song, Vellakara Rani, himself, and even sung it for us.” The film is set in the backdrop of cinema, and has himself, along with music composer K, cinematographer Sreerama Santhosh (former associate of PC Sreeram) and editor Gaugin in the lead. “The film is about an associate director, music director, cameraman and an editor struggling to land a film in the industry. We thought it would be realistic if those who handle these departments in the film play the roles themselves,” smiles Vadivel, “Lakshmipriya (of Sutta Kadhai fame), small screen director Kavithabarathi, Aadukalam Naren and Singampuli also play important roles.”

The film was shot in flat 45 days in Chennai and Thandalam, and the post production work is currently on. The director adds, “With this film, we hope to introduce koothu to the younger generation. I’m sure that one of K’s songs on this folk art form will be liked by all.”
