Suddenly, there seems to be a rush of sports based movies in Kollywood.

This Friday release Vallinam starring Nakul is based on basket ball. How sports other than Cricket are being neglected in India seems to have been highlighted in the film and it carries very positive buzz.

In Boologam, actor Jayam Ravi plays a boxer from North Chennai. The movie features some international boxers and seems to be authentic portrayal of the unique boxing culture of North Chennai.

In director Shankar's Ai, it's rumoured that Vikram plays a sportsman. In Eetti, Actor Atharvaa plays an athlete. In director Suseendharan's Jeeva, Actor Vishnu plays a cricketer and the movie is about cricket.

It's certainly a welcome change to see so many sports based movies in Kollywood. Hope they do wonders at the box office.
