Arivazhagan took a big risk with me: Nagulan

Nagul
He has just had a release in Vallinam, a sports-oriented film, in which he plays a basketball player. Now, Nagulan says that he wants to experiment more as an actor.

On an experimental mode
I never thought I could take up a challenge like the one I did in Vallinam. I started looking at films in a different way, thanks to director Arivazhagan. I would say he took a big risk with me. As far as experiments are concerned, I have been doing that right from Kaadhalil Vizhundhen, in which I played a psycho. I have also done my share of commercial potboilers. I don’t want to be typecast.

Next outing
Tamizhukku Enn Ondrai Azhuthavum (TN1A) is one of the most different films I have been part of. I share screen space with Atta Kathi Dinesh, Bindhu Madhavi and Aishwarya Dutta. The film is directed by Ram Prakash Rayappa. I play Vasanth, a peculiar character, and I attended workshops before we kick-started the shoot. We started work in December. Dinesh is a fantastic actor, who will undergo any hardship to get into the character he plays. I am having fun working with the team. It was tougher to please the cinematographer Deepak Kumar Padhy (of Pizza 2 fame) than the director himself. He kept me on my toes and helped me deliver better.
