Soori saves Thambi Ramaiah’s life

Soori
Soori might be doing supporting roles and characters with a comical twist in his films. But in real life, looks like the actor has turned a hero. Soori, who was shooting for a sequence in Kannan’s Oru Oorla Rendu Raja, saved Thambi Ramaiah’s life by acting on impulse and stopping the car in which they were travelling from plunging into a lake nearby.

A source from the set tells us, “Vemal, Priya Anand, Soori and Thambi Ramaiah were shooting for a chase sequence in Naidupet in Andhra Pradesh. The scene required Vemal to drive the car at maximum speed for a certain distance and stop it near a lake, after which Vemal, Soori and Priya were to get out of the vehicle and start running. The shoot was progressing as per plan. But things took an ugly turn when the car, which still had Thambi Ramaiah in it, started moving on its own. Luckily for him, Priya noticed this and alerted the crew. Alarmed, Soori ran towards the car, jumped in and applied the brakes in the nick of time. If he hadn’t, Thambi Ramaiah would have fallen inside the river with the car.”

Confirming the incident, the director says, “Thambi Ramaiah was in no position to move as he was bound by the seat belt. The car was parked near a slope, and the sand was slippery. Soori’s presence of mind saved the day.”
