Siddharth starrer Jigarthanda which is under final leg of post-production phases is expected to hit the big-screens in May third week.

Every ardent film buff is awaiting the release of 'Jigarthanda' the second directorial venture of Karthik Subbaraj who redefined the meaning of horror thrillers with his maiden film 'Pizza'. The teasers and trailers of 'Jigarthanda' touted as a musical gangster flick set in Madurai have evoked enormous pre release buzz.

The film that has Sidharth and Lakshmi Menon in lead roles has been waiting for the right time to hit the screens. Now sources close to the film's unit claim that the release date has been fixed as May 23, which will be the penultimate Friday of the month of May.

Though the makers have initially planned for early May release, the film is being postponed by a couple of weeks with Super Star Rajnikanth's Kochadaiiyaan being scheduled for May 9th release, it will be a safe bet to release 'Jigarthanda' after a good two weeks gap. Along with Jigarthanda, another medium budget film Sanathanam's Vallavanuku Pullum Aayutham is also being postponed, as per the sources buzz.

'Jigarthanda' has music scored by Santhosh Narayanan and the songs have clicked well with the music lovers. The film has been produced by Five Star Films.

Official confirmation on release date can be expected soon.
