Superstar Rajinikanth-starrer Tamil film “Lingaa” was officially launched here Friday with a customary puja on the occasion of Akshaya Trithiya.

Rajinikanth, along with the film’s director K.S. Ravikumar, were present at the event.

Clad in a white silk dhoti and shirt, Rajini was also joined by his friend and Kannada superstar Ambareesh and his wife Sumalatha at the launch, which took place early morning on Friday inside the premises of Chamundeshwari Temple in Mysore, Karnataka.

The muhurat was attended by the superstar, "Lingaa" producer Rockline Venkatesh, Ravi Kumar, Kannada actor Ambareesh and his wife Sumalatha among others.
The muhurat pictures reveal Rajinikanth's get-up in the film. The actor looks his usual self in the photos, suggesting there will not any big changes in his get-up. However, it remains to be seen as to what will be his look for the other character the actor is playing in the film.

“The film has been officially launched and the regular shooting is expected to start in a few days,” a source from the film’s unit told IANS.
The superstar will be appearing in dual roles in "Lingaa," which is touted to be a commercial entertainer. While Anushka has been paired opposite one of Rajini's roles, Sonakshi will be the heroine for the other character.

Telugu actor Jagapathi Babu is reportedly doing a pivotal role in "Lingaa." Music composer AR Rahman will be working on the film's sound tracks, whereas Rathnavelu will be handling the cinematography. The Rajinikanth starrer will be produced by Rockline Venkatesh under his Rockline Entertainments banner. Details about the film's complete cast and crew details are still awaited.
