Director AL Vijay and actress Amala Paul got married. Their wedding is an hush hush affair that took place in Chennai in the presence of their friends, family and Kollywood celebs.

The couple who were in love from quite some time, recently announced their marriage after their parents agreed for their proposal. Amala Vijay got engaged on Jun 7 at a church in Aluva, which is being alleged as permitted for an inter-cast engagement reasoning Vijay being a Hindi.

However, director Vijay and Amala Paul entered the wed-lock in a typical Hindu style. Chiyaan Vikram, Arya, Sangeetha Vijay, director Bala, Mani Ratnam, DOP Nirav Shah, Mr and Mrs Priyadarshan were among the film fraternities who wished the newly wedded couple today [June 12].

Actress Amala Paul and film director A.L.Vijay shared their wedding vows on Thursday, 12 June, at Valliammai Hall MRC Centre, Chennai. The wedding took place in traditional 'Chettiyar' style in the presence of the couple's family and friends. The reception which is going to take place later on Thursday after the wedding ritual is expected to be star studded event.

Amala Paul and A.L. Vijay had worked together in couple of movies like "Daiva Thirumagal" and "Thalaivaa," and later declared that their love blossomed on sets of their film and have been dating for nearly three years.

Amala, also well known as a fashionista within the industry is a popular actress in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. Meanwhile, A.L. Vijay's movies had been money minters in the Tamil film industry. Reportedly, their friendship which turned to love created a lot of media frenzy because of their popularity.

The couple's engagement took place on 7 June at the St. Jude church in Aluva, Kerala according to Christian customs where Amala Paul was brought up. Their engagement also faced a bit of controversy when a section of Christian community came against the idea of marrying as per Hindu rituals. The news became bitter when some of the social media sites carried the story as a communal issue. Immediately, Amala's father, Paul Varghese issued a press release stating that what happened at the church was only a prayer.

"Amala grew up in and around the St. Jude Church, Aluva in Kochi and had special affection towards the church and it was only because of that they decided to have the prayer there and that was not engagement", stated the press release.

Keeping aside all the controversies, Amala Paul who is active on social networking sites, shared her excitement after the engagement. "I am marrying the man I love in front of the family and friends that I adore", quoted Amala Paul along with picture of her engagement day.
